Bill: The only time I have seen this message is when the wrong IP address is in the host file. It is finding a computer at the address, but the computer does not contain a Teradata system running on it, or at least no PEPs. So, check your /etc/hosts file for the entry that looks like: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx smp0 dbccop1 applcop1 makes sure that xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is for a node that contains Teradata.
