Subj:   Re: CHECKSUM=2 Option on ARCHIVE/ANALYZE

From:   Grothaus, Robin

Will the "CHECKSUM = 2" option during a ARCHIVE produce the same results as a "CHECKSUM = 2" during an ANALYZE ?

For network attached archive/analyze activities you want to use:

"CHECKSUM=2" on the archive "CHECKSUM=1" and the analyze

Below is a snippet of I received from NCR on checksum processing, if you have time to run an analyze then it is definitely worth it:

In the case of ARCMAIN running on UNIX, our archive failures are happening when the data is transferred to tape, so the archive should be run with CHECKSUM=1. The only way to validate the integrity of the tape archive is to read it back in a separate job with the CHECKSUM=2. This is a great benefit, as now (for the first time) you can be certain that your archive is valid at a packet level without actually restoring it.
