Depending on how long the "Select MAX(keycolumn....." takes (as in too long or not) for batch process, and if the KEYcolumn is an
integer; then you could put a VO nusi on it. The MAX value operation should use the VOI I'm pretty sure. Of course that would make the
INSERTs take longer. So you would have to evaluate the total elapsed time benefit versus the additional space of the VOI.
