Subj:   Re: Query Logging

From:   Walter, Todd A

Just to be complete: I said that Query Log (DBQL) in V2R5, set up to log the same things that were being logged before in the Access Log, will be significantly cheaper. DBQL also has summary level logging which allows information to be captured about high frequency requests without the cost of a log record per request.

There are options of Query Log that will log an extreme amount of detail, really useful for detailed examination of a new or problem workload. It will be easy to cause DBQL to have a high impact on system performance by turning on the most detailed logging for a lot of queries or high frequency requests.
