Subj:   Re: Regarding ROWID in Teradata

From:   Dave Wellman

Hi,

The Rowid is 8 bytes long consisting of 4 bytes RowHash and 4 bytes Uniqueness number.

The Rowhash is generated by the Hashing algorithm, using the ro's Promary Index column(s) data vaue(s). The Uniqueness number is a sequential number used internally by the DBMS to differentiate two rows on the same table with the same Rowhash.

Cheers,

Dave
