Subj:   How much free perm space to DBC we need to give

i wanted to find out how much free perm space and temp space we need to give it to 'DBC' user and other user databases.

I encountered a situation where I wanted to tell the developer/dba the max perm/temp space you can alter.

eg:

dbc :  permspace ---> 100 mb
       curr perm ----> 50 mb

one of my user database named db1---> perm space 150 mb
                                        curr perm  75mb

if my user want to alter db1 space , then i want to supply min perm space and max perm space he can give.

min perm space is curr perm space which is = 75 mb
max  perm space         150  + 50 mb (dbc free space ) = 200mb

but when i say db1 perm space is 200MB , i am getting error saying i exceeded the limit. When i say 190 mb it is taking fine.

That means, Is DBC needed any free perm space?

If we need to give some free perm space to DBA, why?

Thanks
