I have installed the GSCTOOLS package and surely the top utility is great for visualizing the load on the machine. My sincere gratitude. After a manual started file system check, the machine has been rebooted after $ umount 1 2 When the machine restarted, the load of the machine when idle is absolutely normal $ sar -u 10 13:20:08 %usr %sys %wio %idle 13:20:18 0 1 0 99 I am suspicious of some resource leakage probably due to machine configuration. This has happened before and now I will trace it closely to find the culprit processes. My thanks to the subscribers of this forum that make it so valuable. Regards, Adriano.
