Hello-
Well, the nodes have some hardware that allows the AWS to see them as though it were connected to the console (serial) port of the node,
and it can control them before the video card or the network is initialized. Sadly, the AWS doesn't have that hardware on it, I believe that
it has a lot to do with the SMB or Server/system management Board. Specific to the nodes and a neat piece of equipment. I f the AWS is
locked at the console, there are some ways to attempt to get it to drop to a command line prompt (there is some vulcan death-grip key
sequence, that I have forgotten. If that doesn't work, it'll require a restart. Typically, unix doesn't freeze or lock up, X may on it's
own, that's why I suggest finding the key sequence to drop out of X or get an alternate terminal. But if the system is totally locked, I'd
suggest a reboot and an investigation, it really shouldn't be falling over as it is the monitor for the system and needs to be available as
much as is possible.
Thanks, wish I were more help,
loadc
