Bethany,

You had degradations in some of your ETL processes when you were implementing compression last year. This was where I first found out about the "fast path" issue. Someone there asked me why the insert/select was taking longer after they added compression to some columns. I had to look it up, but was then able to show them the difference in the explains.

Off hand I don't know if they left the compression off or if they just dealt with the extended load times figuring it was offset by decreased query times.
