I'm soliciting any field experiences in coordinating ETL and MSI reporting. We currently have a daily loading window where the reporting users are supposed to wait for the ETL to complete. We currently coordinate it by idling the MSI project(s) and emailing key users with ETL start/finish messages.

What's the experience out there with other options? Some things that come to mind are:

* Modify report users' spool space to 0 for the ETL window and restoring it afterwards

* Revoke the users' logon privilege for the ETL window and restoring it afterwards

* Remove key data structures that the users must access and restoring them afterwards

Any thoughts? I'd be interested in pluses and minuses of any of your experiences.
