From:   McCall, Glenn D

Generally the error you have encountered means that the host name is not setup in the hosts file in such a way that CLI(?) can find it.

When you specify the tdpid in your .logon (i.e. kkdb) the system will take your name and append copN to it. N is a number starting at 1.

So in your case, the hosts file should contain entries like

A1.b1.c1.d1 kkdb kkdbcop1
A1.b1.c1.d2 kkdbnode2 kkdbcop2
A1.b1.c1.d3 kkdbnode3 kkdbcop3
Etc

If your hosts file does not have the "hostnamecopN" entries, the bteq logon will not work.

BTW. The reason for doing this is to support load balancing. The naming convention allows the client system to connect to any one of the "cops" it finds in the host file with the same base name.

Hope this helps

Glenn Mc
