We use Archive/Restore. It is very possible as we have done it for years to back up a BIGGER system and restore it on a SMALLER system. I call this a negative migration. It is possible to do this with database backups and a bit less gracefully with cluster backups. We have use NCR Business Continuity Services (I do not work for NCR ). We have migrated from 7tb to 700gb systems is far as space goes. The biggest reason for such a negative is that I only have one application that is considered to be DR "worthy". We have always found that we could connect Mainframe hotsites to the NCR machine and we have connected network hotsites to the NCR machine. Both of these sites were located in different states. So we had three different hotsites in three different states all connected form one big party. We have always had excellent service and extremely high level qualified people who work with us at the NCR hotsite. We learn alot from doing DR each time we do it.
