Thanks for the tip - this is a variation of my original (b) technique in that this dynamically resolve the dates into a view rather than the dates directly into the query. However it's a lot less messy. The problem (as you allude) is that development code needs to be able to create views on the fly which isn't always an allowable option. I suppose the question is whether to push for this or wait until R5.1 solves the problem (that's if it does!)...
