What version of PMON are you using?

What version of Teradata are you trying to connect to?

What OS (and service pack) are you running?

Is PMON set up to run in Direct mode (logon to Teradata itself) or in Client mode (Connect through a Teradata Manager server)?

When you say it halts on connection do you mean that the initial screen comes up, then you click the Logon toolbutton (or menu), and then it hangs?

Try running the 'verify' application. (Double click on 'verify.exe' in the PMON install directory.) Then send me the 'verify.log' file that it creates.

Maybe we can get PMON to work for you.
