I would like to underscore Eric's comments. DBSCONTROL and XCTL can be quite dangerous if their parameters are set without careful analysis and planning. If you only need to see the parameters, work with your CS guy, he will often leave a copy of the display output from these utilities someplace where you can pick it up and review it.
