Some of the history of Relational databases and SQL can be found at the System/R reunion site. It is a transcript of a 1995 reunion of
most of the principal engineers that worked on the first relational database. Many of the engineers went on to have important roles in the
development of Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Ingres, Sybase, Sharebase, etc... There are some amusing stories including some about Ted Codd (and
Larry Ellison, Michael Stonebreaker, etc)
