Subj:   Installing tnt41 on your PC

From:   Crisafulli, Ronald

I just completed the installation of teradata tnt41 on my desktop pc. I followed all the instructions to the best of my ability. I setup the IP address n the Hosts file, actually it gets setup automatically as 127.0.0.1 localhost demo1099cop1. I installed all the Client utilities fine and everything went OK. When I go to Settings/ControlPanel/Administrative Tools/Services I see Teradata GTW Reserve Port & Teradata inetd Services as STATUS=STARTED ,STATUS TYPE=AUTOMATIC, LOGON AS=LOCAL SYSTEM. There is one more entry Teradata RDBMS initator where the STATUS is empty and the STATUS TYPE=MANUAL. I'm assuming that this gets turned on when you start the start Teradata Services.

Which brings me to my problem, when I bring up the menu for Programs/Teradata for Microsoft Wimdows Demo/ and click on the ICON for Teradata Service Control the Teradata window comes up. Then you click on START, however after a few seconds it stops.

I'm not logged on as ADMINISTRATOR when I'm installing the tnt41 but I do have Administrator rights under my current logon. I have Restarted my PC thinking that might help but so far nothing. Any ideas..

Ron..
