I have a set of scripts that will achieve this. Basically there are three components: 1. use gzip to uncompress the files to the named-pipe 2. tpump, fastload or mload with the named pipe as the input 3. A perl script that forks and monitors both processes (step 1 and 2). If either 1 or 2 fails then 3 will kill the remaining process.
