Tom, The node that is running the arcmain process will use significantly more cpu power compared to the other nodes. This behavior is not related to NetVault, we see exactly the same behavior with ASF2 (and NetBackup). This has always been the case, but since the nodes are becoming more and more powerful, the difference in load becomes more apparent. One also needs to realize that, given the speed of most modern tape drives, arcmain now needs to move up to 60Gb-120Gb/Hr to a single tapedrive. This data is sourced from all the nodes in a MPP system, but still needs to be handled by arcmain. I don't think that changing the PI of the $NETVAULT_CATALOG.catalog table will make any difference.
