Subj:   Tpump load challenges

From:   Brian Rampersad

Hi all,

It was recommended that I post a message here, in hopes that some of you may have experienced similar issues to what I am encountering.

we are currently testing out our load processes using Tpump and have encountered a few challenges, and I was hoping you might be able to provide us with some advice.

We currently receive about 1100 stores worth of data. For certain data types we run paralell TPUMP jobs with upserts, and I'm happy with the way this is performing. For other data types, we first need to delete that individual stores data prior to loading the new file. My challenge is, for these data types that I need to delete first, I cannot run multiple jobs in paralell, since a single delete locks the table. Therefore, these data types do not fit into our common tpump load architecture. Single streaming the loads, would take far too long, and isn't an option. Are you aware of any other ways we can do this, or other clients who have done this through different methods? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian Rampersad
