A lot of what I have seen is people writing an SQL report against a large table and then monitoring how long it actually takes to
execute. Tracking and charting this execution time over periods of time. Users/etc.use execution time as a gauge has to how the box is
running. Once youto start to publish stats on High and Low execution time people can start to judge query execution based upon the response
time of a typical query.
