If I were asked to code this, I would proceed as follows:

1. create a post-script that:

- uses NetVault CLI for reading the logs and creating a textual version of the job's output

- exploits your very best 'grep/awk/...' to get the mediaID from that job output

- optional: uses NetVault CLI to move these tape(s) to the CAP

2. put the post-script only on these backup-jobs that need exporting

3. optional: put a script in crontab that uses NetVault CLI to unlock the CAP at given moments, so that an operator can just take the tapes out and store them away, without any hassle of the NV GUI

You may want to consult with NCR Teradata Operational Services for this.
