I can not speak to the specific question you ask however I can tell you that the 2Gb limit does not apply to all lan/network attached clients. This is even true for selected TTU releases prior to 7.0. There have been access modules available for specific platforms (in my case AIX) for some time which allow one to get around these boundaries for fastexports/fastloads running from networked client host environments where support for files larger that 2Gb already exists from a filesystem standpoint.
