Is there any way of monitoring whether or not tables are being accessed other than by using Access Logging?

I have noticed that in the dbc.tvm table there are columns :LastAccessTimeStamp & AccessCount however on our systems these fields are null for each row.

Do I need to somehow turn these fields on?
