Unfortunately this seems to be native BO functionality, we don't have a choice. If you override any SQL in BO it automatically sends it to Teradata for parsing and validation. When we have changed the SQL we want it to be saved as is with the report so even if we did put and EXPLAIN in front of it we would need to remove it to save with the report at which point it will try and re-parse again.
