Here at American Eagle Outfitters, backups are the domain of the Unix System Administrator, however, as the DBA, I was responsible for the creation of the initial Netbackup scripts and schedules. The Sys Admin is responsible for troubleshooting failures, and, if necessary, will involved me, if he runs into trouble or issues with specific failure points.

At first I misunderstood and thought you meant node-level UNIX backups (of which I've done a countable and finite yet large number), but on second reading, I think you do your Teradata backups to UNIX.

For what it's worth, where I'm at now, we do backups to mainframe, and where I was before, we didn't do backups, so my experience is both odd and different from yours. Thanks for the data point--it's interesting.

All the best,

John A
