We get updates for account table everyday. Using this we need to maintain an account_class history table which has the foll. structure.

Accnt_nbr
end_dt
Accnt_class
Prior_acct_class
start_dt
where end_dt will be set to '9999-12-31' for the current record.

Which is the best possible way (performance wise) to update the account_class history table. The incoming record doesn't hold the prior_accnt_class or anything that explicity states that the acct_class has changed and hence we need a lookup for this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
