Subj:		Using Escon to move data

We will soon be upgrading our Teradata server from a 4850 to a 4900 as well as ugrading Teradata from V2r3 to V2R4. Both of these machines will use Escon to attach to our MVS mainframe.

During a previous upgrade, we had to use ARCMAIN to backup and restore data to and from tape. This was successful but it was very slow as we had a significant amount of data to move.

Is there any way out there to allow us to move the data directly, via escon, from one server to another, without having to write to DASD or tape? I know this type of thing has been done with PCs, using either the serial or parallel ports but is there anything similar using escon?

Any advice would be gratefully received.
