Subj:   Re: NCR OLE-DB Provider for Teradata

From:   Claybourne L. Barrineau

Mathew,

We did some minimal testing of the initial NCR OLE DB provider with Microsoft Analysis Services. We wanted to know if using NCR's OLE DB provider would be faster than using ODBC to move data. We determined that the throughput was about the same. In regards to stability, we didn't come across any errors specific to the OLE DB provider.

One nagging problem (and this could be due to our lack of knowledge) was the inability to define a default database using the OLE DB provider. Because of this, using ODBC was faster during the MSAS\Teradata mapping phase and whenever we made schematic changes to the MSAS tables and properties which lived on Teradata.

Hope this helps,

Clay
