Gary - you are right - but name some more? BI/Query used to be Andyne GQL and they wrote the WinCLI interface long before "Bill said let there be ODBC"! I used to be a beta tester for them.

In general, I don't believe that anyone is writing proprietary interfaces for any dbms vendor. An in most cases, customers would probably not want them. Just make 'your' ODBC deriver a good one! In my previous life I was a beta tester for the NCR ODBC driver and found it to be much better than most, easier to install and use of the other ODBC drivers for other DBMSs.

Just my opinion (as a database practitioner - not a Teradata employee).
