I use Teradata Manager to keep an eye on things, using Performance/DUC with the All Nodes CPU chart as my standard tool. An unusually
busy system will show up right away, as will an unbalanced load. Then I use PMON to find the most active users and see what they are
doing.
We also monitor hardware performance form the Unix side (from sar data) and product web charts of cpu, i/o and runq versus time. This is
a semi-standard type of monitoring done on all the Unix systems in our area. These charts are updated every 30 minutes, and provide a more
long term picture that TDM/PMON.
Occasionally we look at netstat data to check on network traffic or logonoff data to see where users are coming from (via the embedded IP
address). But these queries are usually run in response to other indicators.
