I would have to agree with Eric. I have had similar experiences with very non-unique indices (primary or secondary).
As an aside, I would suggest using AMPUSAGE to get accurate, quantifiable metrics on the CPU and IO consumed for this process. It will
help determine the relative difference in resource consumption of variations on the process (i.e. with all NUSIs, with all but the very non-
unique NUSI, with no NUSIs,etc.) as well as give some insight into the level or skewing involved, if any.
