No, this is not an internal storage issue. Both "times" are stored in CHAR(8) format (ok, I didn't design it), it's the cast in the separate multiloads, where TIME is being specified in the input statements w/o any explicit casting. This is the weird thing, the column definitions are the same in both tables, and the multiload insert statements for the "time" columns are also both the same. Very strange.
