Thanks Ulrich, the 2nd method is spot on for what I'm trying to achieve.

The date field is held as 'yy/mm/dd' so I reformat that as 'yyyymmdd' to equate with other table and concatenate it with the cast of the time field (held as time(0)) to char(8).
