Thanks David Wellman and others for comments on this topic from last month.

More specifically as per Mr. Wellman's suggestion, I checked DBC.LogonOff and the user's login attempt is listed. Logon, then logoff 30 seconds later. From his SQL Server standpoint, he simply times out.

Clearly the request has reached the Teradata server, but now I'm at a loss to determine the next steps in this investigation.

I'd be thankful for any other suggestions or direction from anyone investigating user timeout or ODBC connnectivity problems. Again, we do not use SQL Server as our standard user front end and I am relatively unfamiliar with the app. BI/Query User and MS Access can connect successfully using the same Teradata ODBC driver.
