I've seen some of the previous suggestions.

Another option is to add an extra join to a reference table or possibly the calendar table. You can use the between on the reference table and then these values can be used to drive the values to access the large tables NUSI.

Using this approach, the worst you should see is a full table scan of the smaller table.
