I doubt if tdmsport will make any difference for bteq. That setting is only for odbc applications and bteq doesn't use odbc, it uses teradata's native cli. In order to access a teradata system over the network, you'll need to amend your hosts file. On a unix box this is in (I think) \etc\hosts. The format of the entry is: a.b.c.d xxxxCOP1 where; a.b.c.? are i/p addresses of the target server and; xxxx is the 1 to 8 character name You'll need as many entries as there are lan connections on the target server.
