Don't defend NCR on this one. We don't need the nirvana of stopping a rollback. Just a way to take that once every few years really bad query (normally code the developer thought was inserting into an empty table) that runs 12 hours and rolls back 2 days to get to a table you never want to keep anyway. All the while your online response time goes into the toilet and you are powerless to do anything but wait, watch, count rows until the rollback will be done, and take bets as to the time it completes.

I would gladly give back Join indexes, TPUMP, and a list of other 'enhancements' to have gotten this one done years back.

Ok, off my soap box for a Friday.
