Yesterday several members of the TDATA-L list received spam sent by another member who has used our postings to the list to make a
distribution list. As a result, that person has been removed from the TDATA-L list. This has happened a couple of times in the past, but I
wanted to give another chance before taking any action.
I'm sorry that there is nothing I can do to prevent this kind of abuse from happening. Hopefully their removal from the list will be a
first step. I would certainly be interested in hearing any suggestions for a second step, should it be necessary.
At the same time there are members of our group who have services and products to offer. They have respected the rules of the list and
I, and I'm certain there are more of you, appreciate that fact.
Actually, I would like to recognize their cooperation. Does anybody have any suggestions on how this might be done? The first thing
that occurs to me is to gather a list of names (minus spammers) and URLs and send-out a periodic note that acts a Teradata Business
Directory. Please don't send anything yet, it's just an idea and I would like to hear general agreement and suggestions before actually
starting such a directory.
