Karen,
Off the top of my head the only thing that I can think of is: what tool are the users using to logon to Teradata with? Even if your
startup string is defined correctly (and I can't see anything wrong with your example) the tool has to process the returned rows and display
the result. If you think this has some mileage, try this with a couple of tools - say Bteq and Queryman.
