Yep, we know it is old fashioned, hence the reference to old. It is mostly phased out, yet it has served a purpose for 'handcrafted sql'
over the years. Also mentioned using derived temp tables to join small to large tables which works well for us in certain cases. Us being
the key word. Obviously, many different solutions can be derived, depending on the desired outcome, strategies, etc.
