We are in the process of updating to V2R3 and investigating the new features available in SQL. In particular I am looking at the Rank function (Page 12-18, SQL Reference vol 13). The documentation gives an explanation of the 'sort_expression_list' used in the syntax definition which doesn't make sense to me. It appears to be a copy of the explanation from the QUANTILE, which in turn is a copy of the MSUM explanation, ... As far as I can make out from testing, this has no effect on the Rank values returned. In order to have ranked values by section/division/department it is necessary to include 'ORDER BY section, division, department' in the statement. Has anyone used this feature and have any comments? Thanks Barbara George
