Subj:   Re: LOCK ROW FOR WRITE in Bteq
From:   Barry Hull

As long as you have all of the columns of the primary index (doesn't matter if it's NUPI or UPI) of your update specified as "equal to" conditions in the WHERE clause and you haven't overrode the default locking somewhere, this type of operation will automatically do a write lock at the row-hash level. This is true whether it's done through BTEQ or other interfaces (such as ODBC or JDBC).
