Subj: | | Erasing tapes written with ARCMAIN |
|
From: | | Julie Sorrell |
We have an NCR 4400 running TNT. I've been using ARCMAIN to back up databases, but occasionally a backup will fail, and I'll have a tape
which has been written to by ARCMAIN which I want to wipe and re-use. I've tried just re-using them without trying to wipe them, but
ARCMAIN doesn't seem to want to overwrite them. I'm using Exabyte 8mm data cartridges, 160m. I've tried using NT Backup to erase them, but
NT Backup hangs when I try this. Does anyone know of a utility, NT or Teradata, which will wipe these tapes so that they are back in their
original (unformatted?) state? Alternatively, is there a way of using ARCMAIN with a command in the .arc script or the batch file which
will overwrite the tape?
TIA,
