The transient journal (database log) also resides in DBC. If your users are running large updates or inserts against any Tables that are already populated (not empty) then Teradata will automatically journal these transactions in the DBC area. I usually estimate about 10 % of the largest Teradata table for DBC when using V2 R3 and much more when using a prior Version of Teradata, but this will depend on how large your transient journal will grow.
