Subj:   Unmatched data type in Join

From:   Jepamony, Johnpaul

Hello Experts,

I use below condition in joining one query.

     A.MA_NUM= B.CR_MBR_ID;

Here A.MA_NUM is Char(20) and B.CR_MBR_ID is Varchar(20). Now will this consider as unmatched Data type?

Do I need to cast them even though they are characters? Will there be any performance degrade because of this join?

Please share your views.

Thanks,

John
