Subj:   Re: To change the backup storage volume in Netbackup

From:   Bakthavachalam, Roopalini

Sure. Let me also provide the steps to change the backup volumes

Steps to change the storage location in the Netbackup.

1) Add the storage volumes in the /etc/fstab on the BAR server

2) Run mount -a. If they mount fine, then df -h would show them

3) Try to create a file on every volume and see if you are able to write to them and don't have any permission issues

4) Once the above steps are done, login to Netbackup and right click on storage units under storage and add the new volumes

5) To group them , right click on the storage unit groups and group the volumes into one group. You can choose one of options for storage unit selection - Prioritized/round robin/failover/ Media server load balancing. I chose round robin.

6) Once the above steps are taken care, change the policy storage for the backup policies and choose the newly created storage group.

7) If you have created policy for retention ( eg 1 week retention, 2 week, 1 month) then you 'll have to change the storage location there as well ( This is what I missed to do )

8) Run a test backup and check if it writing to the new location and try to restore as well.

Thanks

Roopalini
