Thank you Dieter and Dave for setting me straight on Locks; I have to hang my head in ignorant shame !

So, I guess the Row Hash Lock side of Concurrency is what T-Pump takes advantage of.

Anyway, out of interest, if anyone was considering opening as degree of Transactional capability within Teradata (uh hum, no names), you wouldn't see that as an overly concerning approach ? ?For some reason, I expected someone to tell me that it would be a stark starring mad thought even to consider. ?

As long as Row Hash Locks are involved, and there's no concurrent Batch suit in operation, then I suppose it's not much different to a Tactical Query - is it ?

Lastly, if anyone currently allows this, what type of software do you use to build a Data Entry screen over Teradata ? ?
