At logon, the user is assigned default role A so can SELECT from DB1, DB2 (but not DB3, DB4).

The user could then SET ROLE B within the session and then could select from DB3, DB4 (but no longer DB1, DB2).

Or SET ROLE ALL and select from any of DB1, DB2, DB3, DB4.

Note that you can also specify 'ALL' as the default role.
