Just to add to the below, during this "When sessions were in ABORTING PHASE" for longtime, we have also received an alert "DBC running out of space".

However, we had enough perm space (around 1800GB) in the database.

We were actually running a DELETE statement on DBC.Acclogtbl which was highly skewed.

I think, as it was skewed, might be it was using more spool and DBC ran out of space and the sessions continued to be in Aborting state.
